POST SEASON CORNER
Postseason: Tournament of Champions & All-Stars
Each summer, Mid Placer Little League participates in the official Little League International Postseason, which includes two exciting opportunities for players: Tournament of Champions (TOC) and All-Stars.
🏆 Tournament of Champions (TOC)
The Tournament of Champions is a District-level tournament for the top regular season teams from each league. These are the teams who finish at the top of their divisions and have earned the right to compete against other league champions.
-
Who Plays: TOC teams are made up of the existing regular season roster from the top-performing team in AAA & MAJORS. No merging or pool play allowed for this tournament.
-
Divisions: Typically includes AAA, and Majors. Any parent signing up for Upper Division needs to know schedule and practice commitment is through late June.
-
Timing: Usually held in early June, immediately following the regular season.
-
Commitment: Usually 1–2 weeks of practice and games depending on advancement.
-
Cost: There is no additional cost to participate in TOC. ** If a team doesn't have enough players they cannot be eligible to play as it must be the regular season roster, commitment is key!**
⭐ All-Stars
The All-Star Tournament is a separate postseason opportunity made up of players selected from across the league, based by age, not division. These teams represent Mid Placer Little League at the District 11 level and, if they advance, can play through Sectionals, NorCal Divisionals, Regionals, and even the Little League World Series (Majors only).
-
Who Plays: 5 Players are chosen by player vote, the other 5 are nominated by coaches, the last two are manager picks. Selection is based on skill, sportsmanship, commitment, and availability.
Each year MPLL will decide how many teams to submit into All-stars. This happens in April. Commitment from current approved managers/coaching staff is pivotal, if we don't have coach we cannot form a team, and players will miss out on the chance. Mangers are elected by the President and approved by the board. You cannot be considered as a manager/coach if you did not coach in the most recent season.
-
Divisions:
-
8–9–10 Year Old All-Stars (typically 10 year olds)
-
9–10–11 Year Old All-Stars (typically 11 year olds)
-
Little League (Majors) All-Stars (typically 12 year olds)
-
Timing: Begins around mid-to-late June and can run into late July or August depending on how far the team advances.
-
Commitment: All-Star teams practice regularly and families should expect up 4 additional weeks of baseball.
-
Cost: A fee is required to cover uniforms, tournament entry fees, and other expenses (typically around $60-$75 per player depending on the level and number of tournaments entered).
⚠️ Important Notes for Parents
-
Availability Matters: Players must be available for practices and games to be eligible for All-Star selection.
All players must register online to be considered for All-stars. Registration typically opens in April.
-
Selection is Competitive: Not all players will be chosen, and selection is not guaranteed year-to-year. Some years we have up to 60+ players eligible and 12-36 spots open.
-
Uniforms: Provided once players are selected and rosters are confirmed. Once players are selected a Allstar fee will be added to their account.
